Jenna Forsyth moved to Alaska in 1986 and enjoys helping patients, caretakers, and family members from a variety of areas: health psychology, emotional regulation, mental health disorders, life transitions, and adjustments. She earned her Bachelors of Psychology and Sociology from the University of Idaho, her Masters of Counseling Psychology from Alaska Pacific University, and her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Pediatrics and Psychological Assessment from the University of the Rockies.
Dr. Forsyth, PsyD has provided a variety of Alaskans with support. She started her professional career at North Star Hospital in 1998, The Everett Clinic in 2008, Anchorage Community Mental Health Family Services in 2009, and most recently with Orion Behavioral Health Network in 2015 with a majority of telehealth cases. She enjoys supervising and consulting with Licensed Professional Counselors’ and Psychologists in Alaska. She taught Psychological Assessment at Alaska Pacific University in 2015. She often speaks on informed trauma, resiliency, and healing practices in Alaska. Her dissertation work studied Transracial Adoptees in American Families.
Dr. Forsyth’s psychotherapy approach is patient/person centered. Her patients can feel included in the diagnostic interview/intake, collaborate on a treatment plan/therapy goals, and request for certain therapy approaches/skills to be used in sessions. Dr. Forsyth often uses EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, Humanistic, and eclectic strategies. Dr. Forsyth values more of a holistic, wellness, and lifestyle approach with all of her patients. As needed therapy assignments, handouts, bibliotherapy, and mindfulness approaches can be recommended. At this time, she practices yoga, travels, hikes often in the mountains, and instructs both skiing and snowboarding.
